Soulward is a healthy-lifestyle and self-help app. We know how personal this data is, so we collect only what the app needs to work.
Replies are generated by a third-party AI provider’s language model (currently OpenAI). To get a reply, we send the provider your message, recent conversation and relevant details from your profile and questionnaire (for example name, age, type of addiction, how you feel). This data is processed on the provider’s servers under its own terms. We cannot fully control what happens to data at a third party, so do not share anything you are not comfortable sharing: documents, addresses, passwords, other people’s data. We send data to AI only after your explicit consent on first launch. Voice is transcribed on our own servers.
We process data based on your explicit consent given on first launch (including to processing of health and addiction information and to sharing it with an AI provider) and to perform our agreement with you by providing a working app. You can withdraw consent by deleting your account or contacting us.
We do not sell data or share it for advertising. We do not use your health information for marketing.
As long as you have an account. After you delete your account, data is removed from live servers immediately and from backups within 30 days. Technical logs without message content are kept for up to 30 days.
Servers and providers may be located in other countries, including the United States. By giving consent you agree to such transfers. We choose providers that commit to protecting data.
You can ask what data we hold, get a copy, correct or delete it, and withdraw consent. Some of this is built into the app ("What I remember about you", "Delete account"); the rest on request at [email protected]. We reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country. California, Washington and other US state residents have these rights under their state laws, including the right to delete consumer health data.
The app is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect children's data and will delete an account if we learn it belongs to a child.
Connections are encrypted and data is accessible only through your Apple sign-in. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
We will announce material changes in the app and ask for consent again if data sharing or the AI changes.

In the app: Settings → "Delete account". This removes your chat, assistant memory, goals, check-ins, letter to self and close-person connection. It cannot be undone.
